Nikola Tesla -- the greatest scientific genius of the 20th Century -- warned us about crackpots such as St. Albert Einstein, St. Stephen Hawking et al and their exclusive use of "long and daunting" mathematical calculations (and today, computer models) to "prove" imaginary theories shaped from pre-existing, prior assumption bias
Hawking's hyped up 1988 "masterpiece:" A Brief History of Time: From the Big Bang to Black Holes, sold more than 10 million copies and inspired a documentary film by Errol Morris. Cha Ching! Cha Ching Cha Ching! It is interesting to note that there are quite a few secular cosmologists who refute Big Bangism and Black Hole-ism, yet their books, like those of "climate change deniers ™," don't get the puff-up treatment. Big Bang and Black Hole "deniers," -- no matter how impressive their credentials -- are also denied access to the major science publications as well as the pop-science media.
As a black-listed historian, I can sympathize with the brave souls of science who persist in debunking Einstein and Hawking, but can't get a fair hearing in the science sections of the Judenpresse.

Halp.
I've been daunted.
Typical antiscience discourse, trying to pass it as ideological and religious. Old. And why? Motivated "reasoning", to justify ideologies contradicted by reality and actual knowledge... This is reminescent of uncertainty philosophical arguments that we can never know anything and claims that if science was not so ideological, it would find evidence to justify origin myths, a "theistic science", etc. Please read on the scientific method and the history of its development, of efforts to evaluate the validity of ideas and hypotheses, testing them against reality...
“the science sections of the Judenpresse.”
Sure, the reason ‘scientists’ who deny the Big Bang and black holes (which we can prove exist and have in fact, now PHOTOGRAPHED) can’t get their books promoted is because of the evil Jooooooz. Not because they keep trying to find excuses to dodge what the evidence highly suggests to be true.
So Mike, can you explain to me what Einstein’s and Hawking’s main theories even say? Can you explain why the orbit of Mercury is more accurately predicted by general relativity than with classical mechanic? Why GPS and older TVs had to be specifically modelled around an “imaginary theory” if it has no basis in reality? How we could possibly discover black holes and take photographs of them if they don’t exist? I bet you have more evident-based explanations for stellar life cycles, gravitational waves and gravity lensing? Do you know what Hawking radiation is? Do you even know the absolute basics of either relativity or quantum mechanics? No to all of these? Then why the fuck do you think you have any ground to stand on here?
I really am losing my patience with science deniers and anti-intellectuals. Oh and with antisemites too. Just fuck off Mike.
St. Albert Einstein, St. Stephen Hawking et al
Riding my electric bike today, I'm reminded of the rear wheel motor being a brushless induction one. A certain someone would approve of his invention - Linear Acceleration - being used in this way: he was known as the Father of Maglev.
You've probably never heard of Eric Laithwaite, but you'll hear of his invention when Japan has the Chuo Shinkansen. Or immediately: China's Shanghai Transrapid.
crackpots
He may have been obsessed with Gyroscopes, but at least Eric didn't talk to them unlike you did to your now dead cat, Mike Thing .
"testing them against reality..." I forgot to include it in my earlier post, but this is very important: the scientific method also involves defeating common human mistakes like confirmation bias and other fallacies, with processes like peer review and double blind experiments. What matters is not belief, but finding out if it has a basis in reality. Human imagination doesn't magically cast its fantasies into reality, but it is possible to develop and correct human models representing knowledge about the natural world.
Excellent post by Chris. To complement it, I'll add a reminder of consilience in science, and of unifying theories, that don't necessarily invalidate older simpler models that work, like relativity is a better understanding, but newtonian theories continue to work in their domain, like plate tectonics doesn't invalidate continental drift but is a better understanding in geology. The modern synthesis in biology is more complete after the discovery of the genetic code than earlier darwinism and is supported by evidence in many scientific fields.
“Nikola Tesla -- the greatest scientific genius of the 20th Century -- warned us about crackpots …and their exclusive use of "long and daunting" mathematical calculations….”
Too bad you didn’t actually quote Nikola’s warning. Looks to me like he’s against people who HIDE their lack of compelling science behind walls of math. A ‘baffle ’em with bullshit’ approach to convincing people you’re right. Not just advanced and thus daunting math, but daunting for the sake of daunting.
Einstein and Hawking, on the other hand, their work is available for follow-on research, developments, further discoveries. It’s not easy to fully grasp all their work, but it’s not meant to be impossible to work through.
That you’re daunted says more about you than about Einstein or Hawking.
Big Bang and Black Hole "deniers," -- no matter how impressive their credentials -- are also denied access to the major science publications as well as the pop-science media.
Well, first you have to show your ideas have merit. That can be an impossible hurdle.
Confused?
