BS propaganda. The democrats are misrepresenting the Voter ID and issues. Voter ID doesn't stop anyone from voting it just stops INELIGIBLE VOTERS from voting. There are MANY requirements that people show ID (Banks, driving etc) in place. Democrats only oppose the voter ID. Not surprisingly blue states have the highest social welfare fraud and the democrats profit by diverting the funds to "campaign contributors" contracts.

Trump’s SAVE act requires a very specific set of IDs, ones that a good number of people don’t have and would require a long time to get. The Republicans have run the numbers and figure it would keep more Democrats then Republicans from voting.
Proof of ID for voting is something that would have to be rolled out over several elections to give people time to get the right proof. It wouldn’t change much though, very little voting fraud would be stopped. Despite what some Republicans think most voting fraud is done by American citizens.

In total number yes, the population of blue states is so much higher that total fraud is higher. Relative to population it’s higher in red states. The comment about campaign contributors is just nonsense, most welfare fraud is payments to individual people.

We've been using driver's licenses as voter ID for decades. Why do we need to change now all of a sudden?

Well, yes, since having an official ID is not a given in the US and voting IS a right, they consider it as a means to prevent people from accessing a right they have.
The day US authorities issue free individual IDs to all citizens, then the requirement for voter ID will be logical and acceptable. Until then, it is just gatekeeping a constitutional right.

Yep, and with the free individual IDs, they need to make it incredibly easy to update the ID if someone moves or changes their name. But it’s not - it’s expensive and can take a huge amount of time, and that I believe is intentional.
