People like them really do believe, don’t they, that once upon a time, the world really was exactly as depicted in sitcoms like Leave It To Beaver. And then the paradise was lost. It has to be regained.

There really are so few of us with any kind of representation at all in media, much less positive. We’re usually shown as out of control psychos, whether it be some kind of crazed sex maniac or killer.

Even the mere existence of ONE LGBTQ+ character in a cast of 100 cishets gets their panties in a twist crying about"sjw propaganda" and how the series is "RUINED FOREVER".
You know, it got to be pretty damn successful business idea for companies to either make or reinterpret existing characters that’s some kind of minority, no matter how much ya’ll bitch and moan about it all the while screaming “GO WOKE GO BROKE!!!” as ya cry about not having fiction be purely YOUR fantasy and having to share it with ‘teh gayz, girlz, and them colored!’ now.
It’s not just that, alot of these companies and fictions HAVE BEEN WOKE FROM DAY ONE if you just look at it and think about the influences of these stories, Star Wars is about a multispecies (IE multiracial) resistance group fighting against a predominately human (IE White, especially early on) fascist empire that oppresses everyone. Marvel has all kinds of groups that’s clearly a reference to a combination of real-life events and groups (the Mutants and their oppressions are a reference to both how Black people have been treated and how gay people have been treated in this nation). DC isn’t immune from this either, Superman was made by two Polish Jewish Immigrants who based Superman off of their experience as immigrants to this nation, just with powers added.
Its’ clear to me that this sort of thing has been going on for decades and they haven’t gone broke (or lost influence) yet, but plenty of blatantly right-wing or far right fictions have gone broke and or lost influence, perhaps it should be ‘Go Right Go Broke’ instead.
