He’s actually a neo-nazi in Ohio. Same guy praising twitter AI bot Grok’s overt Nazi outbursts from July 2025 in my post from before this one. Did some digging and found out that he’s a retired finance guy who settled in his wife’s remote hometown in rural Ohio after finishing a career in NYC and the Bay Area before that. She’s received praise for rehabilitating some town landmarks in local publications. No inquiries as to whether she shares her hubby’s nazi views that I can find even though he is named as her spouse in the articles. A search on the FEC database shows that he’s a generous donor to right wing candidates. Unsurprisingly, that includes donations to Dan Bilzerian, the open rabid anti-Semite and holocaust denier running for Congress in Florida, and Brandon Herrara, Nazi cosplaying YouTuber who is the R nominee in a district in Texas, as well as a number of convicted J6ers now running campaigns of their own post-pardon, but he’s also a prolific donor to the more “mainstream” Republican candidates. Tends to donate through the Club for Growth PAC’s aggregator. Speaks volumes about the GOP.

No, people who aren't trained to perform needle decompression should NOT carry that equipment or attempt the procedure. Unless you're going to be an EMT/paramedic, you don't need to know anything about tension pneumothoraxes or how to landmark for needle decompression.

The general suggestion to have basic first aid training is valuable and definitely saves lives. Since this post, there have been "stop the bleed" campaigns in the US to train kids to treat school shooting victims, and they've been quite successful since no one there wants to stop school shootings. The rest is just bluster.

She was a good catholic, we were married in a Catholic ceremony, I went to Catholic marriage school with her, our first son was baptized in his mother’s church.

There was a Catholic couple, though, where the husband contracted AIDS from a donor’s blood after an accident. The wife was clean, and asked for special dispensation so that they could use a condom. She still wanted to have sex with her husband, but strangely didn’t want to risk AIDS. They were past having any children, she thought it was reasonable.
The Church said no. She couldn’t use a condom. Icky bad.
So, she contracted AIDS from having hetero sex with the man she was legally married to.
When she Died, the church beatified her (one of the first steps to making her into a saint) because she was SO LOYAL to her husband AND God, that she faced the danger and died of the expectable, avoidable consequences.
Really ticked my wife off.
Policy over people, despite all the charity and compassion she was brought up to believe was part and parcel of being Christain.

Going to point out that one of the state’s two Republican Senators, Lisa Murkowski, endorsed Mary Peltola for the state’s singular House seat in 2022 and 2024, despite being a Democrat. She won both times. Given how popular Murk is in Alaskan Politics, that had to have an effect. Almost certainly not the whole story, but worth noting.

She’s running for the other Senate seat this year. AFAIK Murkowski is neither endorsing nor speaking against it. I wish her luck, regardless; we need as many Dems in the Senate as possible.

I doubt anyone really believes this, beyond a tiny number of people who are deep in magical thinking. No one denies that fighting against the present system, whatever it may be, demolishing it piece by piece, and rebuilding the pieces, won’t result in at least a little bit of pain to somebody, and probably a lot of pain to a whole lot of somebodies. It will not be a sudden, or a total inversion, and even in the best case scenario it will not be an utopia.

Then again, the OP seems to be engaging in a form of magical thinking themselves, so it might just be projection.
