Ah! I see! Sort of like the Hindu holiday of Holi but with plain water.
I agree it should be limited to water pistols rather than impromptu forced wet T-Shirt contests.
The name is still hilarious, though. I wonder if calling a dumb person a “Dingus” is a subliminal anti-Polish slur (like using terms like 'Get gyped' is for Roma). If so; I should stop calling complete bozos “dinguses”.

I was disappointed to hear that “Old Dan Tucker” was some crappy minstrel show tune about some crappy “scary black man” being a disruptive idiot with the townsfolk. I originally assumed it was a silly pastiche of "Old White Mountain Man” and “Folk Tale Character” stereotypes. I would picture Old Dan Tucker is this grizzled old prospector or mountain man or a hillbilly…and eccentric country mountain geezer of Euro-extraction with a bushy beard and a floppy hat and the song sung like a twangy bluegrass number…Very “Dogpatch”.
My dad would only sing the chorus about how Old Dan Tucker was a mighty man with weird grooming habits who could be killed by toothaches in non-tooth-based body parts. My dad would sing it while cooking blueberry pancakes (with wild blueberries picked from the roadside) on camping trips.
Now; One of my fondest childhood memories is forever ruined due to learning that that silly “Mountain Man” song my pop would sing was really a tune mocking a black guy from an American theatrical art form who’s entire premise is Anti-Black Bigotry!

I think I realized why my once-Centrist, Democratic-voting, Bill Clinton-loving Dad turned into a wingnut GOP Trumpster; Casual Bigotry.
Many once-moderate or Left-leaning people who turn wingnut usually have something regressive or selfish in their psyche from the get-go and they get hooked by that.
My Dad was always fine with black people as long as they were casual acquaintances and “respectable”. He also enjoyed Bob Marley music (though he probably never considered the Rastafarian aspect and just saw it as some weird ‘Religious Calypso’ music to enjoy by palm trees on a beach with a daiquiri rather than ‘Hard Youth Revolutionary Radical Music’).
When we moved to Tennessee; He originally just listened to Wingnut Talk Radio for that same reasons that people would watch Jerry Springer or The Room or see the “Freak Shows” back in the olden days. Weird bile fascination and something to laugh at…
But the arguments made too much sense to him.
I love my Dad; He’s not a monster like many in the MAGA crowd. He never attended any rallies…but he’s hooked his horse onto an obvious freak that…oddly enough…early in the 2016 election season…he stated he thought was a jackass.
I sometimes think wingnut media actually downplays Trump’s worst antics and presents him as somewhat normalish while making excuses or declaring as lies his worst actions. Dad probably legitimate believes that the migrants at the border are being treated well and Trump did all he could to deal with the coronavirus.
Otherwise; I can’t see my Dad openly supporting a dim-witted bully who could barely function.
