The middle paragraphs, which I assume are deleted for the sake of brevity, and because FSTDT doesn’t allow great walls of text any more and because Wright loves to go on and on and on, do make the connection. Wright states that there is a war on between heaven and hell and that what was going on in Washington on the 6th of January was merely the part of it that is visible to human eyes.
“The derangement of the enemy, their wild words and crazed violence, their meaningless actions, have a supernatural cause. No rational and no world cause explains such behavior. The worldly appearances, like shadows in a mirror, were merely reflections of a deeper and fuller reality. I realized that the worldly struggle was, as any well-meaning Christian could have told me long ago, the image cast into our realm of a spiritual war invisible to us, where the myriad warrior angels streaming from brilliant battlements heaven engage the winged demons boiling out of the smoking pits of hell. The war rages all around us. That it is in the unseen realm is perhaps a mercy to us: the sight would blast mortal eyes.”
That’s what he said. You may recall he was an atheist once (and no doubt a bloody irritating one who loved upsetting harmless religious folk). Until he had a heart attack during which Jesus and Mary appeared to him! It sounds like he is having another one right now - best of luck to him.
