There is nothing wrong with enjoying speculative fiction as long as you know it is fiction and treat it as such. So what I am trying to say is that it is not the story that is wrong so much as it is the person who is unable to discern that it is fiction.
The discovery channel recently ran a program on the "Vrill". It was a life force described in a science fiction novel that developed a cult following and became one of the major influences in the belief system of Adolph Hitler. So you see what started out as a simple work of fiction was, at least in part, responsible for the worst assault on humanity by evil forces in modern history, ie; the holocaust.
In it's day the "Vrill" had as much of a cult following as L. Ron Hubbard's "Dianetics" that was the start of the Scientology movement of today. The ideas put forth in Dianetics started out as parts of Hubbard's science fiction works and became the foundation of the false religeon of Scientology when L. Ron Hubbard started believing his own twisted public relations and turned it into a theology for fools to follow.
Make no mistake, there are way too many fools in the world and they will follow anything they are taught with enough conviction and fervor. It doesn't even have to have self consistancy. Actually, God does not okay divorce for adultery, or anything else for that matter. Moses set up that law for divorce. Anyone in an abusive relationship needs to get out of it, by separation, not divorce. Let the abuser file for divorce, and your conscience will be clear before God. The funny thing about this is that I've heard of lots of "married" gay couples getting divorced and having custody battles over any children (by artificial insemination or adoption) involved in the "marriage." Another reason not to allow gay couples to adopt children, or have children by artificial insemination, for that matter. I recently had a conversation with my 3 girls, 12, 12, and 14 about the rapture. They indicated they are saved but of course, I cant be absolutely certain. Anyways, I told them that if by chance they are here when all the christians disappear, to understand what has happened, etc. Then it dawned on me: They will see people still here who have or are professing Christians and that it will confuse them and make them doubt the rapture. I was stumped at this point. Then one of them said: mom, if you disappear and we are still here, THEN we'll know the rapture has happened! Wild thought huh?
I wanted them to know, on the outside chance they are still here, what has happened and what to do. But it is clear, and some of you may want to let others know, that it will be confusing when many pews are still filled with "christians" after the rapture happens. It may be these "christians" that will help society think we have been abducted by aliens or something since they are still here.... what a thought eh?

Is there a connection? I can't help but notice all the vampire themes lately in the media. Two movies, "Let the Right One In" and "Twilight" are in the movie reviews this week and both have vampire themes. My sister has teen age girls, and she said the hottest books right now among her age group are also vampire themed.
Why is that? Is there some new age connection? Or is it just about introducing more blood and violence to desensitize people? Or is there some sort of end times connection just because it is anti-biblical?

No. The only time God said yes, ok, divorce, is in the case of adultery. But even then, what does God say about others sinning against us? We're supposed to forgive the offender 70 x 7 times. If a person has actually forgiven another person 490 times for something, and you really consider what Jesus did on the cross, then our forgiveness of others has only just barely scratched the surface of what Jesus did.
If you think about it, banning divorce isn't at all against God's revealed will for us in the Bible. God's plan is one man for one woman, till death do they part, regardless of the details between marriage and death. In his graciousness to us, he has provided an out via adultery, should we choose to take it; however, even that isn't what he really desires for us.

My g.daughter is 15 and just announced recently that she is gay..We love her no matter what but can't condone this life style because it is against our conservative values and I believe what the Bible says literally.. She is living with her Dad who isn't a good role model and has accepted her lifestyle along with her other Grandmother, Grandfather and Uncle (who is a Lutheren preacher) they are all ok with this... Her Mother and Dad have been divorced several years and her Mom wasn't a good role model either.. Mom has changed her life now for the better and wanted her to come live with her but she said she would not change !! She would not give up her "friends" and Mom would have to "get over it" .. Mom told her she wouldn't tolerate this and they have had a huge argument about it.. my question is.. what do we say/do to this 15 year old?? She is so defensive that it is difficult to talk to her.. doesn't want to be around any of her "conservative" relatives even for Thanksgiving.. I told her on the phone that I love her no matter what but I belive what she is doing is wrong.. I have pointed out things in the Bible that show it being wrong.. As I got more educated, I got more agnostic and toyed with atheism. I figured science could answer everything. Then I ran into someone who worked with physicists at a linear accelerator. When she told me that many of them were Christians, I gave up trying to explain everything with science.
People who don't know God in the midst of this crazy world have got to be desperate or naive.

I just can not explain what I am talking about to most people. Even my son, who is getting his dual master's degree in Theology and the Ministry can not understand what I am talking about. We were up until 2 am last evening talking about end time events and Israel and why I feel this way.

Homeschooling is dangerous to the powers behind the politicians because the home schooled youthful minds are not available to be brainwashed. My kids go to public school but I've also done a lot of teaching at home with them. They are prepared at home not to accept everything they're taught in school as truth. From my girl's reactions to the "health" class curriculum in jr high and high school, that is one place where the powers do significant brainwashing.

I'm going to be very honest here. I have stopped praying for God's protection on America. I simply cannot do it anymore. I still pray for protection on God's people in this country and God to bring Americans to repentance, but not for the protection and mercy on this country. As a nation, we have spit in the face of God and shook our fists in His face. IMO, this nation deserves a president like Obama. He and the other Democrats are going to completely destroy this nation and the truth is we deserve it. I don't think the "average" American is center right anymore, but center left. This is what so many have been craving - Obama and all his marxist and socialist beliefs - to be at the forefront of how this nation is governed. Unfortunately, when they get it, they're going to wish they could give it back. It is my hope that the disasters that are soon to befall this nation will be a real wake-up call for these same Americans who helped bring this on the U.S. Obviously, America as a whole isn't taking God's warnings seriously and the only way He will be able to get our attention is to take His hand of protection completely off us. Maybe then this nation will hear God and turn to Him for real this time. Unlike the couple of weeks after 9/11 happened.

Let them have their cheap little laugh--it is probably all they have going on in their lives. They seriously need prayer. Prayerfully, some of them will come to the knowledge of the Truth. Sadly, many others will remain blind. We don't know who is who, so pray for them all. I'm praying that you're feeling better since you know that so many of us are in the same situation as you. They are pitiful
But how long until homeschooling will be illegal and/or thought of as "cultish"?
This breaks my heart!!!!!!!!!! (my heart has been breaking a lot lately). Those kids had faces of confusion. Why are they teaching this?!?! There is SO MUCH more that needs taught instead of THIS?!?! It's a waste of time! There needs to be seperation between sexuality and state! What makes it ok to talk about sex in school but not Jesus? IT JUST MAKES NO SENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrr!
PS. I didn't even know that you had to have sex to have a baby until I was 10 YEARS OLD!!
