It has been postulated that at the beginning of time, the Universe was composed of infinite amounts of positronium squeezed into itself under the force of unimaginably powerful gravity: the original singularity. The idea is that quantum field interactions between electron and positron caused instability. They mutually annihilated one other, releasing their entire mass as energy. This was the Big Bang from which everything has emerged. As a result of primal bipolarity, it is speculated by Stephen Hawkins, the mathematician famed for his work on black holes, that somewhere there may be a parallel universe, identical to ours, yet invisible to us, which is composed of our antimatter. In the strange realm of quantum mechanics, irrespective of time and place, it is stated that entangled particles ‘recognise’ each other as eternal pairs of opposites. Were they to meet, they would self-annihilate, converting into energy.

The proving

In the Summer of 1997, Misha was approached by Chris Kurtz, whilst running a workshop in San Diego for North American students of the School of Homeopathy. Chris, who was completing his PhD at San Diego University, and also on the School's distance learning course, offered to bring along a vial containing antimatter. 'You cannot be serious!' Misha exclaimed. 'Quite serious,' he retorted. Naturally, Misha said, 'Yes'. The remedy Antimatter was prepared by exposing ethanol to the gamma radiation of decaying positronium (with approximately 1,000,000,000 annihilation events being captured over a 24 hour period).

I tried trimming the text to the most bullshit-laden parts. Don’t quite understand what homeopaths mean by “proving”, but it sounds like, they eat the substance where they think “antimatter” is contained, and write diaries about how it makes them feel? And, apparently, the magicks were so potent, they made a videotape break and then work again.

And, while positronium is indeed a real thing, and does contain a positron, it is not synonymous with antimatter. Plus, with a lifetime in the order of magnitude of 100 nanoseconds, you aren’t going to consume any, even if you manage to produce some.

I WTFd this for its novelty value.

Entanglement is not anti-particles, although they can influence spin and polarization. Anti-matter is still in this Universe, so are entangled particles. Some effects can be described as "non-local" in current theoretical quantum physics but that's only a valid description at those scales too. For instance, we can't use entangled particles for faster-than-light communication although it's a popular misconception.

Then of course, this is all pseudoscience to support quackery, homeopathy in this case, with ridiculous claims like that the more dilluted an infusion becomes, the more powerful it becomes. And flawed concepts like water memory... Expensive water, that's not even holy water. :)

Then look at the incredible equipment needed to test the boundaries of physics or to produce exotic particles (then show me your lab). If you can really demonstrate that you can influence matter with your thoughts under proper scientific conditions, you no longer need to sell homeopathic quackery for a living.

Well, there’s no mathematical reason why the big bang couldn’t also have “exploded” backwards in time, and it’s not like this is a new idea… but while they’re useful for higher math, negative numbers (and for that matter, imaginary numbers) don’t always correspond to anything in real life, so one should always be very cautious with extrapolating anything beyond positive real numbers in physics. There’s also no reason to believe that antimatter (or positronium, for that matter) would inherently move backwards in time, because that would require either an imaginary mass or a parity reversal in addition to a charge reversal, neither of which has been observed in actual antimatter. I suppose there could have been a “true antimatter” which is different from “regular” antimatter which was created at the moment of the big bang, but that’s neither predicted by current theories nor presently falsifiable.

For that matter, we can’t even say for sure if the universe started as a point of infinite density; we can only describe what that would look like, under currently known physics. And we know that physics are slightly off somehow…

A homeopathic proving is the administration of a homeopathic preparation to healthy volunteers before asking them what did they felt.

Of course, it’s very subjective and is a good exemple of “cargo cult science.”

Yeah, many conditions are temporary and we just recover. We can attribute it to anything we ate, drank or did recently, it doesn't mean that it was directly involved or the cause of the recovery.

So of course, to determine if a molecule has an actual effect (in actual scientific medicine, to not use the "allopathic" straw man suggesting medicine is only about symptoms with their holistics claimed to work at "deeper levels"), there's an arduous process, involving double blind tests, placebo, etc. And that's with an actual molecule that can be detected and isolated, interacted and worked with, etc. Not a strange undiscovered claimed "energy" in an imaginary metaphysical model...

Well said, mathematics is a language that can describe imaginary things, just like written philosophy can describe metaphysical beliefs, etc. Thus the need for the scientific method to attempt to test ideas...
