Plenty of people who don’t follow police instructions and don’t avoid criminal activity are still alive now, but this young bloke isn’t. Go figure. #blacklivesmatter

Seriously? From what I read, the only reason they stopped him was because an air freshener hung off of his rearview mirror, which apparently isn’t allowed there. Even if it’s an offense, that is by no means anywhere near a reason to shoot someone dead! But being black in america apparently is… For fucks sake!

Let me guess, you’re also one of those people who think Babbit’s death is a horrible tragedy? Despite the fact that she was at the front of a violent insurrection mob breaking into capitol? But of course, she’s the innocent one because she’s white, isn’t she?

Now, don’t get me wrong. Tasering someone who attacks you, an officer, with intent to kill is fine by me, really. Shooting someone dead just because they were (rightfully) terrified of you because of the police’s reputation is another entirely.

Cops are not executioners. While they are allowed to use lethal force when they have no other option it shouldn't be their first choice.

I’m in Minneapolis, so perhaps the reporting here is more detailed. The original reason for the traffic stop was expired tags on his license plate. He mentioned the air fresheners when he called his mother at the beginning of the stop. When the police ran his name, they found he had an outstanding arrest warrant (failure to appear). When they tried to arrest and cuff him, he fought and jumped back in the car. That’s when the shot was fired.

And even then, they only wanted to use a Taser; the policewoman mistook her Taser for a gun.

How did it happens? I mean, they use bright colour for Tasers to avoid this kind of scenario.

I should probably mention police aren't supposed to taser people in vehicles either, as an incapacitated driver can weigh down the gas and crash endangering anyone in the area. A rush to victim blame leaves glaring problems like that unaddressed.
