If, purely for the sake of argument, we were to accept Einstein's stolen "Theory of Relativity" ™ as mathematical proof that space is "curved," time can be "dilated," and nothing can ever exceed the speed of light, the fact remains that none of Einstein's "discoveries" ever had any practical application. So why is he so endlessly hero-worshiped whereas his contemporary applied scientists -- great men whose work has improved and even saved countless lives - such as Roentgen (X-Rays), Tesla (commercial electricity, wireless technology and so much more), Marconi (wireless technology), Fleming (anti-biotics), Carrier (refrigeration & air conditioning), von Braun (rocket science) and so many others remain unknown in the popular culture? Need we even answer that rhetorical question for you?

I’d read the thing on Tesla but the fact that it is from a site that promote Edison, I’m not sure if it could be 100% objective. If you can provide a link from a non-Edison source describing why Tesla was bogus, I will read that.

You see, Tesla and Edison became rivals and Edison allegedly screwed over Tesla. Edison was also more of a cut-throat businessman than simply and inventor and many of his ideas and inventions were stolen or built off of other’s original ideas.

No offense, but that’s why I feel leery about trusting an article debunking Tesla from an organization dedicated to promoting Tesla’s rival. I need an independent source.

Wait, you are including Tesla among those unjustly obscure in popular culture? Nikola “I totally invented a Death Ray” Tesla? The Tesla that every cranck tries to appropriate? The Tesla who that aspiring Bond villain worshipped by all the techbros as the saviour’s car company is named after? I would say that he is far more overhyped in popular culture than Einstein.

The belief that Einstein lifted his famous equation from another scientist is, I gather, a popular one among far-right antisemites. Varg Vikernes (a proudly passionate hater of all things Jewish), for example, once asserted that the equation was stolen from Henri Poincaré. I think I might’ve also seen Hendrik Lorentz cited elsewhere as the rightful “owner” of the equation.

OK if you actually listened to what that IS for a minute, you’d maybe realize that you wouldn’t maybe get your damn cell phone to tell you where are you, I kid you not.

Or OK, to add on that….without taking relativity into account, your phone wouldn’t be able to tell you where you are with such accuracy.

So the theories of relativity are lies and would not be of significance even if they were… but nevertheless, you are still unwilling to accept the Jew as their author.

No practical application? How about enabling not only GPS at all, but also:

- Explaining how generators work at all (no fixed point of reference means that it is unimportant whether the magnet or lets say a wire moves, either causes a current in conjunction with each other), as well as how some electromagnets work (fascinatingly, a wire with a DC current will repel or attract one without any current because of relativistic effects, specifically again because of the fact that no fixed points of reference exist as well as length contraction). Surely knowledge of our preferred form of energy transportation and generation counts as practical application?
- Older TVs using cathode ray tubes had to account for relativistic effects as well since they fire electrons at about 30 percent the speed of light at the screen, making time dilation a noticeable factor. Magnets had to be specifically designed to compensate for that.
- Many properties of heavier metals are caused by relativistic effects, like the non-reactivity and color of gold (caused by significant mass increase and length contraction of the electrons inside it).
- Gravity lensing, black holes and gravity waves would be entirely unexplainable if not even unknown to us, severely limiting our understanding of space.

And I don’t even want to start with the other potential and actual applications for space exploration.

Also WTF are you talking about? At least Tesla and to a somewhat lesser degree Von Braun and Roentgen are definitely known in popular culture (perhaps the latter not as much since the english speaking countries still use “X-rays” as a name for that particular radiation instead of Roentgen-rays like they are here in Germany for example).

Also, to say those other scientists you named are "unknown in the popular culture" is an utter fabrication. You're gonna tell me Tesla is unknown? If you haven't been following the news lately, there was a car company named after him...ya know, that one with the ugliest pickup truck ever, lol

And Carrier is so "unknown" that it's the name you see on air conditioning units all the time...

Tesla is definitely overblown and overhyped, but I wouldn’t call him a fraud. Even if he did not INVENT invent many of the things atributted to him, he did important pioneer work at least.

That said: while one could argue that Tesla himself didn’t yet know better (because nobody did at that time) and just was trying to test whenever wireless energy transmission* or even “free energy” would be feasible, it’s ridiculous that some people still to this day believe that it would work. I think he was also somewhat of a misogynist, and I’m not sure inhowfar his obsession with pidgeons was healthy.
Also, his modern-day fanclub is quite cringy, and Elon Musk didn’t make it any better.

But i don’t know anything that’s measured in Einsteins.

We do measure radiation exposure in REMs, which is “roentgen equivalent mammal” units. Which is greater fame, being a joke punchline or being on the dial of radiacs all over creation? And in everyone’s medical record if they work in exposed fields?

GPS, for starters, along with atomic clocks and gravitational lenses for astronomy.

The whole “no absolute/privileged frame of reference” which is fundamental to relativity probably wasn’t invented by Einstein, as that idea was floating around physics circles at the time. There was a lot of sharing of ideas on how it might be possible to make that work. Einstein was just the first to put all the pieces together in a useful, coherent way.

That doesn’t make him any less a genius. Geniuses don’t work in a vacuum.
