Canadian government continues to pummel pro-family activist Bill Whatcott for “anti-gay” flyer he passed out in 2016! Facing trial again for the same “hate speech” charge – after acquittal.

Judge ruled “not guilty” in 2021. But government appealed for 2nd trial, and Canadian Supreme Court agreed. “Double jeopardy” is legal in Canada.
Whatcott continues to stand strong – a principled inspiration for all of us.

These people really don’t know what words mean. From “pro-family” groups that encourage families to terrorize and disown their children for not fitting an explicitly sexual agenda and base their entire relationship structure on fear or leverage to not knowing the difference between an appeal and double jeopardy.

Except worse, really. There’s an episode where the parents call themselves out when trying to scold Beaver for fetching their alcoholic guest some brandy being the worst thing he could have done in the situation. They realized that by deliberately avoiding telling their children about Andy’s drinking problem and that there are times adults will do or ask for things they shouldn’t they made themselves responsible for the ignorance that Andy took advantage of. That kind of self-awareness would not fly in today’s “traditional” family. The child would simply bear the full guilt and more because otherwise it makes the parents look weak. And despite being punished Beaver would still be expected to unquestioningly oblige the instructions given to him by an adult in authority because children are meant to obey meaning there is no teachable moment for parents or child, just anger and misery and a terrifyingly wide open window for exploitation that by design can never be addressed. Only misdirected from.

Where did this horror of weakness come from?! The strong exist to serve the weak, and weakness and evil don’t overlap like that anyway.

I think that that is exactly their problem. They are a bunch of social darwinists who believe the strong have a holy right to dictate and bully the weak. “With great power comes great responsibility” infuriates them because they only want to abuse power.

This is a trial de novo after a higher court quashed the original ruling.

For reference, here’s the content of the flyer:

The flyers included photos of shirtless men hugging, photoshopped to have zombie eyes. It also had photos of a male anus with anal warts next to statistics on HPV infection rates among gay men and a list of other infections “homosexuals are at a high risk of acquiring.” There was a photo of a dead body, identified as an AIDS fatality, accompanied by text that said: “Many homosexuals falsely believe that sodomy is safe with the advancement of anti-retroviral therapy,” but “the truth is that an average of 15,000 people still succumb to AIDS annually in North America.” The flyers included the statements: “Natural law is clear, homosexuality is incompatible with human nature,” and “Disease, death, and confusion are the sad and sordid realities of the homosexual lifestyle.” The flyers also said that Whatcott’s group was “concerned about the spiritual, psychological and physical welfare of all potential homosexual pride attendees, so we want to give you this accurate information and encourage you to abstain from homosexuality.”

I think the truth might be even more simplistic and utterly pathetic. The only way some people know how to deal with the world is “because I said so” and that ranges from being unwilling/unable to convince a small child to listen to you and go to bed at a decent time to convincing yourself you’re the “alpha” with the respect of your peer group all the way to being convinced that all misfortune needs your permission to affect you because you know you make the right choices and people who make the right choices don’t have bad things happen to them.

"Pro-family" is just their euphemism for poofter bashers. AssResistance, say no more. Because even in the old days when it wasn't talked about, plenty of families had their "bachelor" uncle.

The brochure was offensive and hate speech, sure sounds like it, so good on the Canadians.
