When reading “Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone?” by Iza Trapani to our grandson, I was struck by the similarities to our son’s estrangement. Below is a revision with the same happy ending we long for and the cycle we so often see.
Oh, where, oh where has my lovely son gone?
Oh where, oh where can he be?
With his hair grown long and his life cut short,
Oh where, oh where can he be?
Perhaps I shouldn’t have questioned him when
He said he was not my son.
But I had to stand for what’s right and wrong.
And abide true to the One.
His feelings must have been terribly hurt.
His heart was filled with dismay.
So he grabbed his phone and his laptop too,
And then my son ran away.
