Don't be fooled: Trump's flag burning crackdown may violate First Amendment
I can see both sides of the argument... but Trump is in the wrong...but I understand his position...
The burning of the flag... while distasteful to a lot of people as what it represents, especially who put on the uniform of the US Military, but it can be a form of protest thereby its protected speech much like the nonsense of the most vapid tree hugger to the most vile dreck of racists...it protected no matter how you hate it.
I going to hit you with why Trump is wrong here... in North Korea you are by law to prominently display the portraits of Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un and treat them with great care even to the point if there was a house fire and if it was between a family member and the portraits: YOU BETTER SAVE THE PROTRAITS!
Now here is where I understand where Trump is coming from because lets try this thought experiment for a moment lets assume for the sake argument you set fire to the Trans Flag to protest men in women's sports/spaces whatever... you charged with a hate crime and treated like a pariah. There is one side who wants their cake and eat too...
I remember years ago the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) gave money to an "artist" who produced work which one was the Virgin Mary smeared with dung and another was the Crucifix in a jar of urine... how that is considered art is neither here nor there but if the artist did this without the grant money I wouldn't have cared but since was done with public money their freedom of expression comes into direct conflict with my tax money being spent.
