Illinois Rep. Marie Newman, whose daughter is transgender, posted a video on Twitter of her hanging the pink and blue transgender pride flag outside her office Wednesday afternoon, captioning that Greene tried to block the act "because she believes prohibiting discrimination against trans Americans is 'disgusting, immoral, and evil,'" adding, "thought we'd put up our Transgender flag so she can look at it every time she opens her door" with winking and transgender flag emojis.

That evening, Greene retweeted Newman's post and added a video of her hanging a sign that reads "There are TWO genders: MALE & FEMALE ...Trust The Science!"

Ugh... These kinds of sciency-but-not-scientific people are so fucking exhausting.

Arguing with them always brings me around to the actual science, at which point they stand slack-jawed or outright reject the scientific realities.

The fact is, if we have some biological basis for gender baked into our brains (because genitals can't think or perceive anything, they don't directly factor in), and given that our genitals can develop counter to the signals from DNA, why would anyone think that it would be impossible say for someone to have the brain grow differently from the genitals and DNA? All it takes is an event that "skips the tracks", which we can readily observe as a thing that can happen with genitals.

Of course this also misses the fact that there may be several variants of gendered brain formats even within a single "gender" category.

Which is to say, not only are there more than two genders, they don't always happen in complete concordance between all body structures. Sometimes you have discordance, and it's easier to change up hormone exposure and reshape "gross structure" such as the proportions of parts of the genitals or chest than "microstructure" such as that of the brain.

This is the science. This is the reality. Trans people are experiencing something that is almost certainly real, that is part and parcel with other definitely observed realities.

And Queen Trash here also moved to send the House home for the next few days (screwing up the Covid-19 relief bill), because of the vote on this act. So in her view, fighting against LGBTQ+ rights is more important than helping people. Which sounds about right for this asshole.
