Additionally, disco music often deals with relations between men and women and atheism has a significantly majority of men (see: Atheism and women).

Furthermore, disco music is frequently upbeat and atheism is not commonly seen as being upbeat - particularly in theistic countries (See: Hopelessness of atheism and Atheism and depression).

Within gospel music, one of the most popular songs which incorporated a disco music style was Tremaine Hawkins' gospel song Fall Down.

There’s more religious groups that are anti-dance then athiest, also atheist isn’t a faith, its’ the lack of a a belief in a god and that’s it, there’s nothing else to it.

…Is that supposed to make sense? Atheism is NOT a religion or a culture or a belief system. It’s by definition ONLY “lack of belief in any deities”. And I can imagine people have tried explaining that to you guys endlessly…

You could stop there, as an “atheist tradition” would be a bizarre almost-oxymoron. The closest thing to that would maybe be Festivus, but it’s barely a tradition and originated as a joke. And while it’s been adopted by a tiny number of atheists (mostly as, again, a joke), as a rule atheists don’t make atheist-based traditions because there’s absolutely nothing to base anything on. How would you even turn “Gods don’t real, also I never think about it in my everyday life and have no practices based on the nonexistence of Deities” into a tradition?

That’s not to say that a world of nothing but atheists would have zero traditions, there would just be fewer and they’d mostly be related to historical events. Also there would still be music and dance genres, it’s not like very much of it is specifically inspired by religion.

Because banging on about a past nobody cares about anymore is kinda their bag.

Also, as if Phyllis’ boy wouldn’t have been the bad guy from Footloose, banning music and dancing and bright colours and fun. The dude was cheering for the Care Bears villains, not because he hated caring, but because he honestly thought they made the best argument. “Joy? Laughter? Friendship? My word, those things are annoying! The cartoon book with the oddly sexy voice is right! We should do away with all these things!”

Well, I dunno, I’m a huge fan of Rush, who I would kinda classify as an “atheist band”…Neil Peart, (RIP) who wrote most of their lyrics, was at least agnostic, and they certainly had some upbeat songs. Some damn DARK songs too, but who wants to listen to one mood of music all the time?
