Even without looking, I’m guessing this was the white evangelical analog to Red Dawn . {sigh} I wonder how better the film would have been taken in general (and worse by the rightward in particular) if instead of the USSR going on world conquest, it was instead “just” an armed invasion of Alaska to retake what the Tsarate had “wrongly” sold to the United States (never mind that the Aleut et al. probably would have preferred the land just be deemed unowned...) for the greater glory and honor of the Soviets. (Of course, the real reason would turn out to be Alaska’s oil...)
Yeah, I’m sure the liberals of America are REALLY worried (/paint-blistering sarcasm). We saw exactly what you lot “achieved” at the Capitol - and I was laughing! Historically, evil has won more often than not. The reason stories about the good guys winning stand out is because it’s actually something of a rarity.
Fortunately, however, environmental conditions are degrading fast enough that, even if this jerkoff gets their genocidal wish granted, they’ll probably only win the opportunity to watch civilization not only come to a screaming end, but watch its very corpse rot down to nothing and our species die out along with millions of others.
So we have that going for us, which is nice. Death is the ultimate equalizer.

That version of Red Dawn would have make a lot more sense.
As for the movie I mentioned, it was made in 1971 and there’ no ragtag bunch of kids fighting back. The whole thing is a preacher’s sermon intercut with “Imagine Spots” involving the invaders torturing and oppressing Americans.
But I agree that Red Dawn was dumb.
…and Tempus must be fun at parties, NOT! The “Debbie Downer” of FSTDTs! Even when things are finally starting to look up, Tempus sees “Mad Max”. No thanks. I prefer staying positive.
