Wherever you draw the line, some people will skirt as close to it as possible, and others will cross it. Doesn’t mean the line isn’t important, even if arbitrary.
The problem isn’t necessarily men who find teenagers attractive, its people who get off on violating sexual boundaries. The difference between legal and illegal may be only a day, but anyone without the self control to wait that day is trouble. The ones who like to skirt the line… well, parents should still watch out for their teens around them. At best, they’ll probably break a few 18 year olds’ hearts, and that’s not cool, either.
What they are attracted to is the forbidden. Like an adult woman dressed up like a schoolgirl... The principle of protecting children is excellent, but AOC laws vary because the line is drawn at different places and in different states: it's 16 here, 17 in Tasmania and 18 in some American states.
It doesn't make them all pedos.
Yes, adult traits don’t just poof into existence as a person comes of age. However, most people do understand about the concept of age of consent , and that a person below that age is still most certainly mentally a child.
I'm a white hetero male. I was younger when I was more attracted to that age group, that was also my own age group. Still, it's features that express sexual readiness that fascinated me. Like when you meet again someone you never previously cared for and it suddenly strikes you how she's now a hot young woman. At the same time, I was still so young, that I perceived the women who now attract me as if they were aunts. Don't confuse typical development with a pre-puberty ideal...

But people are attracted to bodies. PEDOPHILES are attracted to undeveloped bodies. Flat chest, flat ass, etc.
Modern nutrition and healthcare mean girls show ‘adult’ traits like boobs and ass a lot younger than has been normal for our species. If you’re attracted to mature-looking boobs, you’re not a pedophile, whether those boobs are 18, 17, or 16.
