My son uninvited us to his graduation because he had his new name being announced . He told us he wasn't going so we had no invite either. But guess what there he was on the live stream that I watched to see his classmates being honoured. He found out through me being on his linked in to see if this was really how he was going into his career as a teacher that I knew that he had lied. He called me in tears saying he didn't understand what a graduation was all about until he heard the other graduates families cheering for them . He apologized. But guess what ? He had not done a legal name change so he had to apply for a "real " graduation diploma certificate in his given name!! Hallelujah!! The joke was on him. He has now registered in his real name and he is stuck with it unless he makes a lot of effort to legally change it. He has no money or time to do so .

Your child told you straight up they saw no point in graduation ceremonies until they saw parents actually supportive and proud of their children and you’re laughing about it and calling it a win. This point blank admission they’ve NEVER had ANY kind of encouragement from you at all throughout the entirety of their education and probably anywhere else in life and were so conditioned not to expect it that it was SHOCKING to them to see it from others.

How fucking awful are you as parents that this is how you try to positively frame yourselves? And this is before even considering how you disrespect their gender and identity. It’s a complete void of acknowledgement and expectation of disrespect on ANY front. Moving into a career as time consuming, poorly compensated, but ultimately vital to the future of the next generation the only joy you extract from having raised someone who decided to become an educator is that they’ll be too broke and worn down giving students a future parents like you would never provide for them to ever truly break free of what they see as the last shackle you have on their life. Seriously, how fucking awful are you?

Considering this is PITT parents “son” is almost certainly a misgender. They’re probably either female or non-binary.

…but once they get a good job based on their qualifications, they can afford to legally change their name according to their actual gender.

Your Daughter didn’t want you at her graduation because you’rejudgmental and selfish. And she was brought to tears by other kids having parental support.
