It's a false equivalence. It's basically a bottom of the barrel excuse they make to try and defend blatant agendas.
Comparing the acceptance of purely fictional elements which are invented for a story, to the acceptance of real world human DEI and political agenda.
A false analogy that equates two things that are not actually comparable to deflect criticism and concern in aa way to make it seem like it's no big deal
Pure gaslighting
Notice how their bullshit never allows for black to white raceswapping, replacing busted up, masculine female characters with feminine ones, Asian representation especially strong men are nonexistent, and the norm being hetero relationships between men and women (real ones) in fictional settings. They know they're lying and being two-faced with that shit, but they genuinely care more about tokenism than creating interesting characters, worldbuilding, lore, or historical accuracy or respect for history in general if a piece of fiction decides to go that route.
