Trump says Chicago ‘will find out why it’s called the Department of WAR’ ahead of planned crackdown

President Donald Trump posted a meme on social media Saturday saying that Chicago “will find out why it’s called the Department of WAR,” as the city’s officials brace for an immigration crackdown.

“I love the smell of deportations in the morning … Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR,” the post reads. Trump signed an executive order Friday to rebrand the Pentagon as the “Department of War.”

The post includes what appears to be an artificially generated image of the president wearing a hat and sunglasses, with the Chicago skyline in the background, accompanied by text reading “Chipocalypse Now.”

A president declaring war on his own nation…

I- I don’t even have anything funny to say about this anymore. This is just batshit crazy and horrifying.

And now he wants to establish a sub-division of it called Department of Civil War?

You don’t get much more blatant than changing the name from defence to war for the express purpose of their first assignment to be armed occupation of your own soil.

Not even the Commander in Chief is supposed to be immune from being relieved of command by an inferior officer if their competence and sanity come into question or if their actions so manifestly constitute treason. A literal declaration of war on an American state cannot be interpreted as anything else. I get why spineless political ladder climbers don’t take action but at this point you can point a finger at the Secret Service members directly flanking the madman while he announces this shit and ask why they don’t lead him out at gunpoint and inform Vance he’s in charge pending the court martial.

It’s worth noting that he didn’t create the meme—his post was actually a screenshot of someone else’s post.

Still not a good reflection of how he sees himself in relation to blue cities.

EDIT: Also, on the very day Trump posted it, Abbott said there were no plans to send the Texas NG to Chicago. While it obviously doesn’t discount other NGs being deployed, I get the feeling Trump is relying on Texas to supply troops wherever he desires them. (Now, New Orleans we should be concerned for, as Louisiana’s red governor would be happy to do Trump’s will.)
