To start with, we only make up about five percent of the population, so we cannot serve as an explanantion to describe society-wide phenomena. I presume that by “humanity’s declining attention span”, you mwan that old spiel about people only being aware of what is on TV, which is not what ADHD is about at all. The annual profit on ADHD medication is less than five percent of that of anti-depressants, and Methylphenidat prescriptions have plateaued around 2010-2012. Oh yes, and it really does not take long that my brain does indeed work differently from normal people’s, something I clearly inherited from my mother (as so often, she was one of the cases where, when her child was diagnosed, so many strange problems she faced throughout her life stated to make sense…).

I …actually agree with that final sentiment, but for completely different reasons and with completely different implications.

Of course, people who reject established religion are likely to not believe in the established religion’s woo (in the Occident, Christian myths and superstitions like demons and Biblical historicity). Of course, a portion of them are bound to be prone to irrational beliefs - but obviously, their irrational beliefs are likely different ones than those rooted in established religion. And that includes people who consider themselves scientific, so their affinity is to irrational beliefs that ostensibly present them as scientific - that is, pseudoscience (in a strict sense - although there are certainly some religious woo that is clearly constructed to be pseudoscientific like Intelligent Design and baraminology, a lot of religious nutjobs have conceptual worlds so proudly primitive that they are not even pseudoscientific). Keep in mind that it is well established that legends and myths can be reinvented to fit new paradigms - notoriously, alien abductions are very obviously a space age version of people being raptured away by fairies to strange realms where time flows differently and being assaulted in their sleeps by night hags and incubi. based on the same phenomena (altered states of consiousness like fugue and flow and sleep paralysis).
