Brown did have a flaw, mind. Namely, he was so fixated on the raid and the uprising he expected it to produce that he didn’t hearken to Frederick Douglass’s advice that all he’d really accomplish was binding himself and his followers in a steel trap. Despite Douglass having first-hand experience of how Slaver Territory worked. (Didn’t stop Douglass from giving him a eulogy, though.) I doubt we’re looking at anything conscious, though, and I definitely would prefer not to jump to White Savior Complex without more evidence.
