Among denominations claiming to adobt the new covenant doctrine, they each select what they still like from the old testament.

Incest? Most common in the patriarchy, actually notorious for it, especially high control cults segregating people from normal society. Sex abuse, blaming the victims, often also subject to gender based subjugation, happens in your church. Bestiality? Your straw man.

So whatever is convenient for you to calumniate, manipulate and mislead. Meanwhile, there's a lot of evil in the scriptures and there's a lot of evidence that it's only of human origin. We should care about what is relevant for society today, not basing policy on some ancient savagery romanticized and put out of context to pretend that it's relevant.

Poe's Law: so ironic that it's either utmost ignorance or satire. Attempt to define "science" (not science, but the straw man "science"), as the philosophical metaphors in the propaganda of ancient men's elites, like their national myths.

Furthermore, Biblical creationism is modern pseudoscientific literalist interpretations, not even the stories in their original context. Then actual science and real knowledge discovered about the natural world are rejected in favor of that doctrine. This often serves to segregate from the world, control and exploit.

Meanwhile, real science will never allow itself to be corrupt by the dictatorship of a literalist fundamentalist ordering it to stop investigating the world because they already supposedly have "the answer to the universe and everything". Especially that they just don't. Neither does science, but at least it keeps investigating. Science has also moved away from philosophy alone, it is beyond it.

There are better Christians than you are and there are more honest and ethical people.

It was interesting to read Detrs' patient conversations, it reminds me of my quest when younger. But also very interesting to suddenly see the essence of patriarchal Christianity at work: the wife was no longer allowed to post, the husband apparently took over, likely forbidding her.

Then the arrogance was apparent, it was a doctrine to impose and even magic spells to deny Detr's beliefs so that they convert (a so called public prayer, described as hypocrisy in the gospels and very different to the model Our Father one). Detr's tradition was claimed "without evidence" and judged as idolatry.

Points of fundamentalist Christian nonsense were listed, claimed to have incredible evidence, but which are even questionable within Christianity. Doctrines like Hell have been among various that have produced schisms. Literalist YEC creationism is not history. Mainstream academic theology scholarship does not consider mythological characters like Adam or Moses to have been actual people. It was really Don's particular mobile mini-cult, likely also a way to take his wife away from her family and control her. And unlike Sikh's charity operations, this one was soon admitted to not be disinterested at all.

As soon as Detr exposed their long seeking experience, Ron was not interested and likely had used all the tools at his disposition, even threats of hell. I personally very much doubt that the dream story was genuine or unaltered. It may also have been inspired by classics like Dante's Inferno, that itself doesn't have a Biblical basis. The only purpose of the story was to desecrate the Buddha and fear mongering for control. Not honest, not friendly, not noble. Only a demeaning attempt to claim to be superior. I read a lot of dumb things in this quote, but that might just be the dumbest of them all. Culture isn’t genetic, it’s based on what you grew up around. Sure, those often coincide, but not necessarily. Like if there’s a white kid who grew up with a black family or vice versa, they’ll probably be immersed in that culture.
