So we need moral codes in order to self-regulate and allow that cooperation. Cultures that formed and reinforced moral behavior prospered, while those leaning towards selfish behaviors did not.
Selection ensured that the better operating societies lasted.
It’s all enlightened self-interest. I’ll let you play the bagpipes without killing you IFF you let me cook with balsamic vinegar… without killing me. We can pretend that God wants us to tolerate this, if that helps.

I don’t think “neurotypical” is an objective category. Different people have different ways of experiencing the world, and different ways of internally processing that experience. Different people have different levels of various instinctive drives. The full range of possible humanity is far wider than most assume. But even if not objective, it may still be a useful category; it’s the range of people for whom the society they live in does not cause them any inherent distress¹ or serious life challenges², or something along those lines. There are extreme outliers who would not do well in any functional society, but there’s a broad spectrum between that and whatever is widely considered “neurotypical”.

¹Excluding those caused by racism, sexism, classism, and similar -isms and -phobias, as those are not inherent to individual neurotypicality.

²Excluding those caused by physical disability, as this is not relevant to the subject at hand.

More relevant to the OP: just because someone has one particular trait (and likely, autism is not a singular trait but a range of them) doesn’t mean that they manifest in the exact same way, or even combine with other unrelated traits to produce the exact same outcome. This is a form of misaimed empathy brought on by not understanding just how much humans vary from each other.

Maybe it’s the ones who don’t particularly distinguish vegetarian and vegan because it’s a distinction without a difference as far as they’re concerned, and/or the ones who are offended by the “disrespect” vegans show them by not eating their chicken dish, because it’s “close enough”?

As a USAian, I do find that Bandon and Tillamook cheeses are decent (sorry Wisconsin, but Oregon has a bit higher standards). But if I want better than “decent”, then I usually spring for European or New Zealand imports.

It’s inappropriate in most circles to wish severe suffering, serious crimes, or death on even terrible people. (Not that it was mentioned here, but prison rape counts, if anyone needed to know.) Anticipating someone’s assassination comes dangerously close to that. It is appropriate to wish for a fall from grace/power, obscurity, and losing friends/allies. (Particularly status-obsessed people might take any of these very badly and for a very long time, but it is generally deserved, and also something one can and should get over after an appropriate grieving period.) Complete loneliness for the rest of their life is generally acceptable but a bit iffy (some of the worst people shouldn’t be anywhere near others, but at the same time, it’s a form of severe suffering for some people). It is also acceptable to wish a comedic mild humiliation/injury (stepping on a rake or lego, getting eggs or pies to the face, as a few examples) so long as it’s expressed in a joking manner.
