An estimated 1,700 people live out of their vehicles in the city now. The city has set up a pilot program to accommodate some of them. In order to clear RVs out of residential neighborhoods, a parking lot has been set up to contain a small fraction of the homeless population. The pilot program will allow thirty vehicles to park there over the next ninety days. The parking lot will include amenities such as portable toilets, portable showers, and case managers. The pilot program will be set up near the Balboa Park Bay Area Rapid transit station. The case managers will refer some people to shelters and help others find addiction treatment and mental health care.
This doesn't sound socialist at all unless you think homeless shelters are socialist.
The city is slowly turning into Venezuela, where drug addiction runs rampant, where gangs rule the streets, where people go hungry and defecate on the streets.
The US is solidly capitalist and the first three things are still true. Reagan was the one who got rid of mental health facilities which turned former patients homeless. Was he a socialist? They've gotten much better since the 80s which was the peak of violence nationally. And you haven't proven that San Francisco is even collasping.
San Francisco is a sanctuary city, where there is no rule of law. San Francisco’s streets are filled with drug paraphernalia and helpless individuals who aren’t allowed to defend themselves against the rising crime syndicate.
That's not what "sanctuary city" means. It means they're not going to arrest you just for being an illegal immigrant. The upside to this policy is that illegal immigrants would be more forthcoming in identifying criminals to the police and companies that pay far less in wages or simply not pay at at all.
