Making a level in Doom that recreated their real school would have been a huuuuuuge pain in the ass. Especially if there were any slopes anywhere at all on campus (only flat level floors allowed). Even worse if there were any buildings with more than one floor. (No floors over floors allowed either!) Not to mention all the measuring they'd have to do and the fiddly detail work with the vertices and the lines and sectors. I doubt they'd have been able to do it even if they'd tried. Even if they were experienced Doom level creators.
I once thought it would be cool to make a Doom level based on my high school, but not because I had school shooting fantasies. I just thought making a replica of a real world place would be fun and school architecture works well for that sort of game. My school didn't have multi-story buildings and the ground was mostly flat, but in the end I was still too lazy to go through with it...
