There’s a theory among scholars, translators and theologians that that verse may have been added in long after Paul wrote Corinthians. I think that’s part of the bit about women keeping silence in the church…which shows up in the middle of a longer bit about men AND WOMEN BOTH “prophesying” in the Church!
Now think; How can women “prophesy” if they’re told to “be silent”? It makes no sense. Remove those few verses and the whole thing actually flows better…
…it’s as if… those verses were added later by scribes who wanted women subservient.

Several of the Pauline Epistles, despite being canon, are now regarded as likely later stuff that was never written by Paul… and these are the Epistles that tend to be heavy with the misogyny and Judeophobia.
In the Epistles that were definitely written by Paul, Paul acknowledges and praises Church leaders and Clergy of both sexes and even talks about his Jewish heritage and matter pertaining to Jewish followers in the Church.
So; It’s likely that any verses in otherwise Paul-written Epistles that espouse sexism or Judeophobia were either added later, misinterpreted or taken out of context.

The Bible was translated from archaic forms of Hebrew and Greek. This is like a civilization 3000 years from now in what is now Italy trying to translate an ancient English manuscript from the original Middle-English. The results are not going to be perfect and often subject to misinterpretation or outright manipulation.
Apply what I call the “Demiurge Rule”: If a scripture promotes retrograde, discriminatory, brutal or outright antisocial teachings, it’s best to consider those verses NOT divinely-inspired and merely human-made fabrications by huge jerks wanting to enforce stupid social standards.
To me, the Gnostic Demiurge is not a literal being but a metaphor for false oppressive human piety. “The Demiurge Rule” should be applied to all scriptures of all faiths. If something promotes Repression, Discrimination, War Crimes or Human Rights abuses, it’s not of The Goddehead.
Or in the case of the Tanakh, all those genocides of the Canaanites are best understood as allegory and not literal genocide. Bible can be understood as historical fiction meant as parables or mythologized stuff based on actual events meant to teach some higher truths.

Thus; Cherry-picking scripture and “Cafeteria Religion” is perfectly valid is one cherry-picks the good stuff… or, as Jesus said… “Separating the wheat from the chaff” (which not only applies to good and bad souls but good and bad teachings).

… Oh, the OP is a huge poophead and one of the early Judges of Israel, the Prophet Deborah, would trash him like a common Midanite soldier.
