There are problems with the classics that tend to lead to unfortunate implications. For example, Aristotle said that "For that some should rule and others be ruled is a thing not only necessary, but expedient; from the hour of their birth, some are marked out for subjection, others for rule..."
There's also your assumption that the Dominican Republican isn't also part of "Western Civilization" despite having been colonized by Europeans.
