Chumpy the Orangeguy also freed over 5,000 captured Taliban guys. Chumpy is a treasonous creep.
We also trained an Afghan military that was SUPPOSED TO keep the Taliban at bay while we were gone, so it isn’t like we wanted to leave the Afghan people high and dry like Trump did to Kurds (Biden really should do something to make it up with the Kurds).
Unfortunately, we never got around to rooting out the rampant corruption in the Afghani Govt. and military higher-ups. They inflated numbers of troops and tended to underfund, underpay and underfeed the soldiers. Thus, when the Taliban came a-callin’, the Afghan military basically said, “Here, Taliban, take it”. Some Afghan soldiers may have been covert Taliban themselves.
In a nutshell, if you want your military to work for you, treat them and fund them well, lest they turn on you or don’t do their jobs.
Hopefully, if there’s a war with the Russians, at least we’ll be part of a coalition of other NATO countries, so a bunch of us vs. one of them may be a short war… and the whole objective is to simply prevent Putin from grabbing Ukraine because he’s a big baby who can’t accept that the USSR is dead. Screw, Pooty-Pants! Bring back Glastnost & Peristoika! Bring back the days when Russia was becoming democratic and was an ally! V-Poo also looks like a dweeby Dobby the Elf clone with a bad case of “Short Man’s Disease”.

ONE: It appears that the Russian people might finally be getting sick of Putin and aren’t really buying any of the state propaganda…

TWO: The Taliban is infighting (the more moderate ones willing to modify things concerning gals and such vs. the hardliners) and there’s a famine that they’re handling poorly. The people are bound to revolt.
