And if this is supposed to be some Fractal Mysticism (with a Creationist twist, obviously): I would argue to the contrary that self-iteration, as an example of self-organisation and complexity arising from simple rules and building blocks, strongly weakens any claim for the necessity of a supreme mastermind architect of reality.

No. Not to be a ‘no, YOU,’ the existence of fractals destroys the creationist’s favorite argument.

The rules for creating fractals are very simple. Computers are needed merely to process lots and lots and lots of these simple calculations in a less tedious manner than doing it by hand would be.
The images they produce are very complicated. The very idea that complexity requires a vast intelligence to create it is thereby pithed.

The fact that the Banana as we know it is Ray Cumfart's worst nightmare is because it - despite his claims - is as a result of human intervention and not of his 'God'. As @Bastethotep points out (thus wins the thread from the start), a Mandelbrot set is as a result of mathematics. Now, is your 'God' so complex he can figure out what humans can't: yet the latter can come up with the numbers to create fractals? Count 'em:

Because when your 'God' can only count to four: thus proving we know something he doesn't, ergo so much for his 'Omniscience', it's not only your 'God' that fucked up big time, AiG.

Like Bananaman with his 'discovery', you think yours - certainly Jase Liesle's - is a 'Gotcha!' to we Atheists: yet, with simple facts we can prove you more than wrong. Cumfart had to admit he'd fucked up, so he dropped his 'Gotcha', thus merely called 'Bananaman' is his 'Never Live It Down' weakness exposed.

Equally - certainly via the fact with the number of legs an insect has, thus we knowing more than your 'God' does, ergo he is an inferior being if he's not 'Omniscient' - Mandelbrot Sets will be your Cre(a)ti(o)nist Kryptonite, Ken Hambone.

Just as you cannot spell 'Belief' without the word Lie, what can't you spell Mandelbrot without, Kenny-boy...?!

I’ll admit I don’t know all that much about the Mandlebrot Set (I read the Wikipedia article about it and good portions of it just went right over my head to be honest, lol), but I take objection to the sentiment that anything that would supposedly challenge atheists’ disbelief would be our “worst nightmare.” Ya know, I consider myself a pretty open-minded individual, and if I ever came across something that I really felt was evidence of a god or gods existing, I’d certainly accept it.

Of course though, even if did I fully accept this excuse for an argument, it still wouldn’t be evidence of the existence of the God of the Bible.

Personally, my trippiest nightmare was one I had as a kid…about a semi-truck that came crashing through the basement of our house. “Trippy” mainly because that really makes no damn sense, lol

Sure, the outer parts of the Mandelbrot Set can get pretty trippy if you use the orbit trap coloring, but wait until you see all the other semi-well-known fractals, like Newton’s Fractal¹, Tricorn, Buffalo Head, Douady Rabbit, or Burning Ship. That’s not even getting into 3-D fractals like the Mandelbulb or Menger Sponge, or things like what happens to the Mandelbot set when you invert it or mess with the exponent. If you really get into how fractals work, it might give you a bit deeper insight of the nature of math and/or biology, but it doesn’t prove that God exists or had any involvement with either.

Ahaha, no, fractals are no indication of the divine. One could even say the contrary, if the universe was really based on them, they are mechanical, based on simple repeating patterns and circumstances. Still, it's false that the universe is as simple as that, although some things in nature do show some patterns. Consider the evolution of the wrist, hand and fingers, or how motion and gravity can result in spirals... These are explained without the need to appeal to the supernatural.

Some of the replies on the youtube accept that math makes fractals, but push that back a step. “WHere did these laws of math come from? How come they work?”
Obviously, if the evidence they offer isn’t forcing a conclusion of ‘God,’ then they just keep moving backwards until it does.
But then they stop. No one wants to examine where a complex God comes from. It’s not an inquiry to find the truth, but a sales pitch to sell God. And only their god.

Even if that was true, why would that be our biggest nightmare? We don't believe in God and this would be irrelevant to our lives. Like cool, there's an intelligent being that created everything. Unless it can communicate with us directly, that information is pretty useless.

I also recommend #dunning-kruger - someone there definitely believes, or at least claims, to know way more than they do.

I don’t think you have the mathematical baggage needed to understand even masic high school algebra.
