We did NOT have portable cameras in 2001. Only movie studios owned large, unwieldy cameras operated by heavy machinery at the time. Every video you see of 9/11 is absolutely AI. We didn’t hear about it until it was on the radio the next morning

Camcorders existed lol. Seen some footage of a couple college students reacting to the second plane hitting. Also, I was only 9, but I distinctly remember it being all over the news the day it happened!

While those characters, that method of temporal displacement and the film they feature in are fictional, that camcorder made by JVC - a VHS-C GR-C1 / GR-C1U - is real.

You might have heard only heard about it on the news the next morning, but most of us saw it live. And it wasn’t just camcorders, etc, clearly the news media got involved in what was at least the biggest story of the decade (if not the crime of the century). It’s not AI, dude. I watched the towers fall. I was in Japan at the time and it was the middle of the night for us. Technically for me the towers fell on September 12th.

Hey, I got a Fisher-Price PXL2000 as either a birthday or Xmas present back around 1987 or so. If you don’t remember what that thing was, it was a video camera that recorded onto Compact Cassettes. And yeah, the quality of the video was just about what you’re probably imagining it to be, lol. But it was in fact, undisputably, a portable video camera!
I mean, hell, technically “portable video cameras” existed WAY before that, they just weren’t fully self-contained, you’d be carrying around the actual recording unit on a shoulder strap or something. Or you had a very long cable. I’m talking about the time before VCRs were even a somewhat common thing that people would have in their house.
