(For context without having to check Twitter, it is in regards to rumors of Trump defunding an LGBTQ+ suicide prevention hotline that has had well over a million calls/texts since it was created in 2022)
And yes, it's "Obviously" the schools and teachers trying to help these students that are causing them to be suicidal. Not family, not bigoted schools/teachers, not classmates bullying them, not people in government trying to repeal protections and rights, not random religious fuckwits who say stuff like they're going to hell for being whatever. "Clearly" the schools and teachers who advocate for the poor students using the hotline are to blame.
Between being told “it’s okay to exist, there’s nothing wrong with you, you’re not alone, and you decide who you are” and being told “no it’s not, you’re FILTH and we’d be happy to see you get your head smashed in by your classmates if your family doesn’t have the moral fortitude to do it first but we’ll grudgingly tolerate you to live if you do so on our terms in an arrangement that makes you feel violated on the daily to produce babies we intend to mould into our image while we keep a scornful eye on you to step in and correct you if your performance is ever lacking because even if you swallow your dignity and submit we consider you an evil predator by default” I think the latter would contribute more to feeling like there’s no escape from pain save death.
