The idea that most people who identify as White Nationalist or Alt-Right or “Dissident Right” or whatever who are pro-White are conservative Republicans. A huge number of them are right-leaning Independents in the Center of the electorate. They are rightwing in the sense of being authoritarian, against political correctness and socially conservative. Their views on economics and their financial circumstances places them to the Left of Conservatives.

Usually when taking into account "Does this group fall under Republican or Democrat" independent parties are left out of the discussion. This is mostly because the US has an effectively two party system, and while third party or straight independents are in office, they aren't at a rate to be nationally relevant.

That is a problem, as it tends to help the destabilization of the nation with the more radical divisions of both parties, who in other countries would be their own groups, that make it harder to work together.

But, as for the White Nationalists, Alt-Right, Fascists, and general pieces of shit, between the two parties, they find themselves overwhelmingly either aligned with, working with, or part of the Republican party as they don't want to branch off into their own less effective independent party. It doesn't matter where you think you are on the scale.

Every extremist fanatic thinks they're really a "centrist" - someone with whom the majority secretly agrees.

so they are rightwing in the sense that they agree with the worst of rightwing talking points? Uh is this even an argument?

They also don’t realize that center-right in the US means extreme right-wing in the rest of the world. Even our liberals are considered right wing by some world standards.

The fact is that, unlike in the Solid South, White supremacists and nationalists fell more affinities with the Republicans than the Democrats (apart some nearly extinct Dixiecrats not wanting to vote for the “party of Lincoln”).

And they might have been “centrists” only in the 1950s Mississippi, where segregationism ruled the day in politics and social benefits were understood to mainly benefit White citizens (this is the reason why support for New Deal and welfare became lower after 1964).

And it’s possible to support both right-wing positions in culture and politics and left-wing positions in economy: we usually describe them as Third Positionists such as Fascists, National Socialists or National Bolsheviks.

Anything to say they don't represent us. Better to, though, consemn them not say they're not what they are. They are right wing.
