A candidate for governor in California is coming under fire for a social media post that referenced Auschwitz, the infamous Nazi concentration camp, as a model for ending homelessness and unemployment

On Friday, Republican Kyle Langford shared a photo of himself superimposed over the entrance to Auschwitz with the caption, “My 0% Unemployment Plan”

The photo includes the “Arbeit macht frei (Work makes one free)” gate, which prisoners saw as they arrived at the camp during World War II[…]
The Auschwitz Memorial responded on X to Langford’s post, describing it as “a profound moral failure”[…]
In response to the pushback to his original post, Langford said he “wasn’t joking” about it and, “I think it is exactly what is needed to stabilize California and keep people safe”

He also thanked the Auschwitz Memorial for what he called a “massive shoutout,” adding, “My German ancestors smile upon me”

This is not the first time Langford has antagonized the Jewish community on social media. In an April 16 post, he said, “Jews need to become Catholic, worship Jesus Christ, and abandon the state of Israel”

I refer you to the reason why so many travelled west during the latter part of that war, to surrender to & become POWs of those who were allies of the country that had said monarch. We cannot say Republicans are nazis, but they apparently do not mind that some nazis are Republicans.

No matter how many overworked and homeless you put in death camps there’s going to be more poor and homeless because the people who want the death camps are the same people who make everyone poor and homeless by making working life a constant precarious unrewarding hell that can see you in the streets on a whim and conditions only get worse as individual productivity rises rapidly grinding your physical and mental health to dust. And then there’s the travesty that is American healthcare…

Throw those people in the camps instead. Let people who want work culture change to something that sustains the lives of those who work rather than them all being disposable worker ants that pass their tithes to untouchable gods playing with magnifying glasses start building a consensus. 6 less billionaires telling everyone to pull themselves up by bootstraps they have to rent from those billionaires that are designed to wear out calling the shots and I guarantee you’ll have six million more working households not having to wonder which of three bills gets paid each month and further worry they’ll still lose their homes even after paying.
