Universal suffrage is flawed

As I watch video after video of Skid Row residents being bribed to vote with cigarettes, a stark realization hits me: my vote carries exactly the same weight as that of the guy who just finished defecating in the street and whose vote was paid for by certain, shall we say, aligned NGOs.

On one hand, you have someone who is educated, has paid taxes, and contributed meaningfully to society, yet their vote is canceled out by a person still high on fentanyl who can barely read.

Paraphrasing a post i came across today: We have allowed illiterate, uneducated citizens to hold hostage the world’s largest economy, most powerful military, and a robust intellectual culture. This has decimated the concept of civitas and enabled powerful actors with bad intentions to influence those who cannot think for themselves.

To restore the United States, we must seriously consider ending universal suffrage, at least until we can get a firm handle on the fraud that certain political parties insist isn't happening.

Um, yes.
You can vote your conscience, you can vote your immediate interests, you can vote your long-term interests, you can vote how your spouse tells you to vote, or your dad, or your dog, or your boss, or you can vote however your pastor illegally told you to vote.

But that’s up to you how you decide what influences your vote. You don’t get to decide that anyone else isn’t worthy to vote. You may not like it, and you’re free to have your opinion.

See, if we start using that sort of language, then we start trying to decide what ‘meaningful’ contributions are. Many of the homeless are hooked on fentanyl because the military put them in harms way, and mishandled their pain medications, and then turfed them to the street when they had problems. Exactly when does a combat veteran’s contributions to society stop becoming meaningful enough to earn him a vote?

No doubt you’d scream and bitch the second the people you put in charge decides your right to vote also doesn’ mean shit too… since you do that with everyone else because you assume you’ll be the top-dog in whatever bullshit society you want created, never once thinking you probably won’t be.

If I didn’t actually believe in universal suffrage myself, I’d be mad that this guy’s vote carries the same weight as mine.

I agree. We must disenfranchise all members of the Republican Party until such time as they can prove they are American patriots and not wannabe Nazis.

Sure, dumbasses screwing everyone thanks to their vote might suck but the remedy is better education and maintenance of a democratic culture, not disenfranchising most of the population.

Everyone who talks like this, I have noticed they are perfectly okay with basically limiting education to those whose parents they feel “contribute”, and others should get just enough to work the coal mines when they’re 8 years old, basically. Poor education is a lot of what leads to these “societal failures”, as well as basically kicking people to the curb if they have any problems getting by that they can’t instantly fix themselves.
