Dumbass what was regarded as “White American” was very subjective for the entire history of this nation, in fact, “White American” as a reference to anyone European American is a fairly new development, as back in the 1800s one is only regarded as “white” by certain elements of the racist white community if you belong to a specific group of European, IE the so-called “Anglo-Saxons” or rather English or Scottish but eventually expanded to other groups but frequently being forced to, since they used to discrimination against Germans, Italians, and especially Irish.
