How open minded of TERFs to insist that gender identity is all about at-birth genitals.

It’s interesting what things they usually choose to focus on. For example:

I almost never see anyone make the point that trans men calling themselves “gay” amounts to them erasing gay men. I mean that I’ve definitely seen it, it’s just much rarer than the reverse. Of course this could easily be explained by TERFs (excepting those who are tradcons in disguise) mostly not caring about anything perceived (accurately or not) to cause harm to men, and tradcons not caring about any perceived harm to non-het sexual identities. But the one thing which I’ve never seen anywhere: The idea that a trans person in a relationship with an opposite-gender cis person, erases heterosexuality. That one might “trick” an individual cishet is a thing which might still occasionally get said, but straightness in general is not noted as being less intact.

And one may note also that, in general, the primary focus is on trans women being a threat to cis women, with a secondary-at-best focus being on trans men being a threat to themselves. For an example of the latter, “chopping off healthy breast tissue” is framing mastectomy as self-harm. The one major exception that I’ve seen is that “chopping off boy’s penises” is instead framed as a threat to masculinity, as if doctors would just chop off someone’s manhood for funsies or a nefarious agenda or something. That’s a tradcon thing, though, as TERFs just find all sorts of weird justifications to make it a threat to femininity instead.

Patients in psych wards are typically on so many medications they can't tell if you're a man, a woman, or a small purple alien from Alpha Centauri.

I really doubt if that ever happens. The main threat in women's prisons is not transwomen prisoners, but the male guards.
