There is a reason that the Founders created institutional gridlock. Because they knew if they created these institutional gridlocks, it would force Americans to choose a king, a strong man, when the system broke down and they would all get what they secretly wanted from the beginning: a monarchy.

A man that could rise above the institutions — the Congress, the Supreme Court, the Senate — and could take the wheel and save a nation from democracy. The separation of powers, checks and balances, federalism, all of that creates paralysis in normal times. The only way to break the deadlock of the separation of powers, checks and balances, federalism is through strong executive action. That's why you see Donald Trump signing executive orders like a dictator, because somebody had to take the wheel and pull us out of this gridlock created by our Founding Fathers. And they created it to produce a king.

Especially for a man that would have been hated even back then and would be so weak that the nobles would have overthrown him and replaced him with a more competent monarch. Additionally, this is a man who is in his late 70s going on 80s and clearly not going to be long for this world, certainly not long enough to ensure his dictatorship does turn into a absolute monarchy and not just a extremely short-lived regime that fell apart because the dictator became a dictator far too late into his life.

I’m not sure if I should be glad they’re being honest about how much they utterly hate democracy in the first place or worried that they feel so emboldened to public admit as much, or their desire for a absolute monarchy while twisting the very founders to justify it even though everyone knows full damn well that they DIDN’T fight a war just to replace one monarch with another.

So, yeah, rather than create a Monarchy like the people were used to obeying, they created a democracy that was a puzzle. And hoped that 250 years later, the ONLY SOLUTION to that puzzle was to create a monarchy.
AND the solution would involve a man with kids by at LEAST three different women, ensuring wars for the succession. (Seriously, first kid, or first kid by the wife when he became king, or first kid by the one wife born in the US? Are girls eligible? Does the king need to have a chin?)

I’ve seen a lot of Republicans lately on Reddit and Facebook reacting to the recent “No Kings” protests by asking things like “we don’t have a king, what are they protesting against?” Well, here ya go…
