Picturing an American farmer as a Dumb White Guy is absolutely correct.

“Dumb White Guy” predates TV and originated on radio, and remained popular for several decades because it’s a fantasy that you can be a useless fuckup and everything still always ends up okay just ‘cuz you’re white and male, often complete with a middle class lifestyle and a hot wife. It seems to be dying out though.

“Evil White Guy” These are rarely the protagonists, and are nearly always taken down by the heroic white guys. And also this trope would mostly go away if Nazis would stop being Nazis.

“Sad White Guy with AIDS” is basically just *one* movie, Philadelphia, from 1993. I mean there are probably a few arthouse films which could be described that way, but unless I really missed something, no other big-budget Hollywood movie. This may be because Tatsuya’s pop culture knowledge stems mostly from the 1990s and 2000s.

“Heroic White Guy Sacrifices Himself and His Family so Blacks and Browns can flourish” is an exaggerated and mostly inaccurate description of White Savior Complex. I’m not sure who likes these things because most Liberals and most Conservatives hate it (for very different reasons), with occasional exceptions. Regardless, I wonder what Tats would make of its sorta-opposite counterpart, Magic Negro, which is even more problematic and thankfully mostly dead.

A certain ‘white guy’ was just an influencer. Another white man is. ‘Was’: as in the past tense, as opposed to ‘Is’ which is in the present tense. Thus a question:
