Oh, there have definitely been times one could be beheaded just for speaking up, even fairly recently. Whenever one would speak up against a dictatorial power. Nazi Germany and Stalinist Russia are just two prime examples of the last century, and right now North Korea, and, well, Putin’s Russia.

I know that people have been beheaded for speaking up against dictatorial powers. Some in the group Weiße Rose (men and women) were beheaded for speaking up against Nazi Germany, for example.

Yup. Truly sad, too. It used to be a great comic…even if it was somewhat sexist and horny. It also was open to interfaith harmony and had God/Jesus, The Buddha, etc. as supporting sympathetic characters while still skewering the “holy-roller” crowd.

Okay. Everyone gets to speak and vote in pairs. Every couple has to both vote to speak so that one of them, male or female, gets to contribute.
So to speak in public, you need to be able to draw a partner at least for the length of your speaking.
