If you remove God's standard of right and wrong, then you're left with opinions. Without God, morality does not exist.

“If you remove God's standard of right and wrong, then you're left with opinions. Without God, morality does not exist.”
WITH your god, slavery is good, rape is directed, slaughter is rewarded, and the rich are fucked. One out of four isn’t a good batting average.
Of course, i don’t think that Biblegod actually exists, so it’s all just men and their opinions. Some are popular, some are not.
Oh, YEAH!
“God's standard of right and wrong”
Doesn’t that include ‘render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s’? Meaning to pay your taxes?
Your dad refused to Render, didn’t he. So that’s just a mortal opinion he used, not God’s Standard.
"God's standard of right and wrong" was always a subjective opinion that varied depending on epoch, person, favorite verses, their interpretation, their strange arguments about why these should be relevant today, etc. But human suffering is something tangible that can be felt. Empathy is supposed to help to understand that. If you're a Christian, Jesus tried to teach empathy himself. It's not something that should be ignored or discarded in favor of abuse justifications or bigotry, especially when appealing to false authorities and straw men to do it...
IF you accept morality as god-given, you are unlikely to question your society’s traditional flaws and injustices, nor your cause and the means justified for it.
And, speaking of which, back in those days, there was still plenty of difference in opinion on God, with very lethal consequences…
That just makes me think of the “Euthyphro dilemma” from Plato. Put in terms of this argument, it’d be something like this: If what God says is moral is so because it just IS, then morality just exists, and we don’t really need God to say what it is. But then if what God says is moral is so just because he says it is, then that’s just the edicts of a dictator.
Confused?
