Minnesota Republican state Sen. Steve Drazkowski is going viral, and he has some explaining to do. According to Sen. FuckMuppet, his state should not pass a bill to provide free school breakfast and lunch to children because he's never met any poors.

"I have yet to meet a person in Minnesota that is hungry," Drazkowski said before voting on the legislation. "I have yet to meet a person in Minnesota that says they don't have access to enough food to eat."

"Now, I should say that hunger is a relative term," added Drazkowski. "I had a cereal bar for breakfast. I guess I'm hungry now."

Ohhhhh. Well, there is poverty in Minnesota, and he should know that. It's not hard to Google. Or he could get in his car and drive around to see for himself.

Drazkowski called the bill "pure socialism," adding, "This is about the government dictating to kids what they're going to eat and how much they're going to eat."

…Well, even IF that is true (I HIGHLY doubt it is), that lack of famine certainly isn’t going to last if you take away their food, dumbass!

Serious question, though; is there anything the Republican party still actually stands for aside from trying to screw over the non-0.1%? Or can we just check them off as “irredeemable, generic, moustache-twirling doomsday villains” by now?

Pushing evangelical nationalistic Christianity is trying to mess up everybody, so they do have that going for them.

JFC, talk about elitist. According to this, nearly half a million Minnesotans experienced food insecurity in 2021. It would’ve been more honest if you had said you don’t represent or care for the people of your state, just the corporatists who paid for you to be there.

I spent a year in a Minneapolis public school in 1974. I was one of 3 white children in my class; the others were Native Americans. We had school breakfast and lunch back then.

Breakfast consisted of juice, milk, cereal, and a cookie. Lunch was pretty decent because the school hired local welfare mothers to come in and cook.

I know our teacher worried about how his kids ate during the summer. And he wasn't a namby-pamby liberal; he claimed that being a retired cop was good training for teaching public school.

How much would you bet this guy lives in an all-White gated community where houses start at $1.5 million?

Damn, another idiot in Congress embarrassing my state. A quick Google search shows 20 food shelves or other sources of free food, 3 of which are within 1 mile of the State Capitol Building, where Drazkowski goes to “work.” Maybe he should take a couple of his lunch hours and go check them out. He’ll get to talk to plenty of people in Minnesota who are going hungry.

I also have yet to meet a person in Minnesota who's hungry. Of course, I've never actually BEEN there…
