“For something to be evidence, it has to exist**.”
Eh. I’m willing to accept a decent argument for some things.
“Now everything which exists exists for a reason*, either through an external cause or of the necessity of its own existence, etc.”
So for any given object, either someone/something made it or no one did and it exists anyway. That’s a compelling observation.
“So, unless it is possible for nothing at all to exist, then there can't be evidence for God not existing.”
Kind of a verbal Klein bottle, what?
I’m an atheist because I don’t have any experience of compelling evidence that gods exist. I don’t see much point in trying to find positive evidence that they do not exist. I do not have a third nose on my face. What’s the evidence FOR that nose not existing? Can’t claim that I’ve searched for it, someone will say it’s possible I just missed it, or stopped looking when I became convinced I didn’t have a second nose.
“So, I think,”
Heh. Oh, wait, you’re serious?
“ unless you can show that it was possible for there to not be anything existing, then I think it means that there can't be evidence for God not existing.”
I think that’s a pretty jumbled effort to shift the burden of proof. You want me to believe in your god, OR to behave as if i do? Show me the evidence for it.
“Even f there were a possibility that nothing at all would exist, something does exist and we are entitled to ask why something rather than nothing actually exists.”
You’re entitled to ask. You’re not really supported in saying that it proves ‘Goddidit.’
“ Either way atheism is stuffed.”
Not even slightly. You haven’t touched on ANY reason I have to be an atheist.
