The way Israel has handled Gaza is so reminiscent of how the Nazis handled Jews that it was bound to foster antisemitism. Conservatives are emotionally dependent on the concept of boundaries. Boundaries keep us all separate, neat and tidy in our own little boxes, never touching for fear of getting cooties from the "wrong" or "icky" people.

Anything that crosses boundaries -- or worse, declares that boundaries do not matter -- is so disgusting and obscene that conservatives immediately reject it with all their strength. It's a knee-jerk reaction, like gagging at the smell of garbage.
