Well, if your agenda depends on your views being popular, then hearing the polls say otherwise can have a demoralizing effect. Likewise, if your agenda depends on making your unpopular views more popular and it’s not improving, same thing. I’m sure that there are some conservatives out there who are calling out “fake” for the purpose of countering any demoralization effect caused by the polls (and maybe even convincing themselves it’s true). But I doubt much of anyone calls them “demoralization operations”.
