Yes, it’s cult behaviour to isolate and destroy people socially, but in a society that allows freedom of religion such things are sadly inevitable. Anderson’s thrown people out, like any cult leader (they do it to make an example of their authority). David would throw people out, if he has any to begin with (which he doesn’t). So therefore HBC can chuck out David, for whatever reason (telling the extant pastors how to do their job, ogling one of their wives and sexually harassing other female congregants have all been heavily implied in previous quotes.)
