There is no such thing as ethnic Germans. Germanic perhaps, yes, Germans, no. Not that long ago, Germany was just a bunch of Kingdoms, Duchies, States. Germanic people are all of northern Europe; parts of France, the BeNeLux countries, Great Britain, the Nordic countries.
What would happen if we checked the figures of people with roots from Germany in the rest of Europe? Quite a few people left Germany before, during and after WWI and WWII. THEIR offspring is now people with migrant backgrounds. Not to mention the many who left areas occupied by Germany during WWII, and areas occupied by the Soviet Union during and after WWII. Like my husband’s mother, her parents and her brother; they left Estonia shortly after the war, and went on their supposed journey to the US of A, but never got farther than Gothenburg, Sweden (for which I am thankful, of course).
What do you mean by twice as likely? That can be two in a hundred among the Germans and four in a hundred among the non-Germans. Hardly earth-shattering differences…
You know what, even if they have lower schooling, another country paid for that schooling, not Germany. With native Swedes, the Swedish taxpayers pays for almost all of the education, from kindergarten up to university. Immigrants are a bargain when it comes to education.
What is now Germany was already a “multicultural population mix” at the time of the Roman Empire.
Before 2015, the largest group if migrants to Sweden were, TA-DA, returning Swedes who had lived abroad. The second-largest group were people from other European countries.
I’d guess that a pretty large amount of that “quarter of people aged between 15 and 45” came from other German-speaking countries.
Sweden took in even more refugees per capita than Germany did, and the Swedish economy is doing fairly fine, four years after 2015. Oh, and studies have been done that show that sexual assaults have NOT increased due to immigrants. They might not have increased at all. What has increase is just a willingness to REPORT sexual assaults.
If a government decides to go to war on made-up excuses of “weapons of mass destruction”, the people will have to expect a wave of refugees a couple of years later. Think about that, when the Orange Clown now wants to go to war with Iran on equally made-up excuses.
Seeking asylum is a human right. No-one DECIDED that the refugee crisis was a good idea. It’s just an inevitable outcome of war, exploitation, terrorist attacks, climate change, etc.
Should the rest of Europe have closed their borders after WWII, and refused to accept the war-torn Germans seeking asylum? I don’t think so. My first boss, after I left school, was a very nice older gentleman from Germany.
So, what roots does Mr. Paulwitz have? The name sounds a bit Polish or Slavic…
