There was a Family Guy gag in 2011. Now Seth and his writers make up stuff all the time but they also use Hollywood rumors as the basis for many their jokes and sometimes those end up being right. As said in a 2011 Episode they said Bruce Jenner is a woman.

It wasn't sudden. There were rumors of her being trans long before She came out.
