What I do is casually but publicly challenge them to whip their dick out so that we can compare penis right there, but require it has to be in front of everyone to verify the account. This can go one of two ways, either they accept your challenge or don't.
If they accept the challenge, then maybe you win, maybe you lose. If you're packing anything even close to average, then you will just be living up to what people expected anyways, and at least you had the confidence and balls to challenge them. I knew instantly who this ‘anonymous’ person was. A woman that had been transferred to our department three months previously. Who has asked me several times to ‘help’ her, which meant do the work for her. Who has tried to tag along with me to lunch. Who has asked me several times if I’m seeing anybody. I don’t know if she sees me as a potential mate to branch to or a beta that will do her dirty work, but either way I’ve always stonewalled her.
I told my boss I had no idea what was going on and if he could provide me with concrete examples I would be more than willing to have a discussion about it. He told me to forget about it, and to cover my ass in the future if this comes up again.

When the boss or HR wants to know WTF the problem is you will have a written and corroborated record. Keep it professional. Don't use any mitigated language. In the USSR, University programs were created for such a number of people that the economy was predicted to require. Therefore, specialized studies were very competitive. You'd never have a situation like the western world today, where tens of thousands of new psychology BAs are made every year. The economy simply does not need that many. People would be incentivized to choose studies that aren't really that interesting or fun to fill those spots, as well.
However, if you flunked your classes, you got kicked out and drafted into compulsory military service, or had no choice but to go work construction/other menial labour.

I'm pretty firmly in the camp of medical termination if a problem is known about ahead of time, and I believe it should be possible and acceptable for people who would be overwhelmed by the responsibility of caring for such a child to give the child up to a system designed to care for them, one with those selfless folks I mentioned earlier. Surely there is some middle ground between the horrors of 19th century institutionalization and the way we do things now.

Absolutely. When I give my loyalty to someone, they always come first. I don't give my loyalty to the law or society; when I take on a partner, their welfare takes precedence.
How would I help them? Send them away, somewhere with cameras, so that they have an alibi while I dispose of the body. I move the body into a remote wooded area, dig a pit, body goes in, burn for half a day (have myself a camping trip) smash up any bone fragments so they're unidentifiable, then meet up with spouse for victory celebration.

They're talking about their significant others, but it sounds like they're talking about complete strangers. Something bad happens and they just completely turn on their partner. Sorry, guess when you got married you should have said "for better or for worse (unless you kill someone; I ain't going to jail)."

Get a lot of detail from them, look at the papers/online to see if it's true, and see if there's any reward offered.
If there's a reward, I'll do my civic duty and report them with name and details to the cops. I'll take the reward money! That, and in my state, there is no death sentence, so I can visit them in prison.
If there's no reward, let them continue and play dumb to the cops - just make them promise not to kill people I'm dating, friends, and/or my family members.
