Which is funny given JD Vance is catholic, and not just a person born into catholicism but a convert, but goes to show you how quickly the right will eat itself the moment they think they are in a position to do so, even when they aren’t.
Considering the fact that most of the founders of the US State were deists, I would argue we could consider the whole of christianity as outside the protection of the first Amendment. After all, y’all claim that it is not a religion, but somehow a personal relationship and it has proven to be absolutely toxic.
So they used to claim that “religion” in the First Amendment referred only to forms of Christianity, not atheists, Muslims or other religions. Now Catholicism is supposedly not covered, either…
Christianity (or just certain branches of it) is both the only thing which is not a religion *and* the only real religion, depending on whichever benefits Christian fundies more at that particular moment. Everything else is either a religion or not a religion depending on whichever benefits other people less. Consistency doesn’t matter when supremacy is at stake.

I had to Google “plastic Paddy” because I’d never heard that one before. Basically it means someone who has Irish ancestry, not actually FROM Ireland but who “places a great importance on Irishness” as Wikipedia puts it.
But anyway, I’m not exactly sure what “looking Hispanic” or “looking like a plastic Paddy” would even mean. “Hispanic” basically just means people with a tie to the culture of Spanish-speaking countries, whether they’re white or black or Latino or whatever. Though, now that I think about it, I suspect he really means “looking Mexican”…
